I have haplogroup J. My family is Pacheco from Nordeste, Sao Miguel. Being able to know my haplogroup, J1, gave new lights to my research and I hope this will help to break a brick wall I have at the moment, although I'm working in different ways to find more. The mtDNA on the J group is no more than 8% of the population of the Central and Eastern islands (Santos et al. in Origin of Peopling in the Azores). On the Y DNA, the significance for the J haplogroup is 10% for the Central islands and 11.7% for the Eastern ones (Fernando et al. in Peopling of the Azores). I would like to know if there is anyone in the group that has the Haplogroup J (mtDNA) on the Central islands and the Eastern ones?
