Hi all, Yes, these are what we call 'false friends' words that look alike, but have completely different meanings.. One of the best ones is constipation/constipação, in Portuguese it simply means 'cold (sickness)', in English you know what it means :). Best one is in Spanish though - embarazada (pregnant) vs embarassed/embaraçada (meaning in English and Porruguese is similar). I've heard a couple of people trying to speak Spanish (we call it Portuñol) and trying to declare themselves ashamed of something (like arriving late), they actually seem to announce their pregnancy. It takes some practiced Spaniards to not erupt in celebration.
