the Church doorstep or the "Roda" the lazy-susan wheel at the church or
where the Nuns lived.

Thanks for all the help. Seems like every record I come across is a bit
different. This one is a real head scratcher...why would Maria not know her
mother? Not knowing the father is more sensible but, I guess, her mother
might have died when she very young and she was raised by other family?

I just found the marriage record of the parents of Antonio, Ignacio de
Arruda and Maria do Carmo. I can make out Ignacio's parents, Thome
Rodrigues (deceased) and Maria de Arruda, but I can't make out Maria do
Carmo's parents. The record starts on bottom of left side and finishes on
