Yahoo! Found my grandfather's passport information. It verifies what my father always said that he was from Sao Mateus, Graciosa! He left from Angra and came through New York at the age of 11! Settled in Lawrence, Mass. Doesn't look like he traveled with his parents though - so more unanswered questions! His name was not written correctly on ship's manifest which added to confusion. I have been searching for him for several years. I had records of him once he was in Massachusetts but not in Azores. So exciting to have this information.
