If Rick means to check US Censuses for where they might be in MA, then
include the Boston area – particularly Cambridge and Somerville. My
grandmother and family arrived 1904, New Bedford, destination family in
Cambridge.

I learned of Azores Passports from messages on this list. With the date of
their arrival, I was able to scroll through the Azores Passport records and
find them.

Oh, re the censuses: be verrry flexible re their names. It took years to
find my family in the 1910 census = they were indexed as Duldra & Buinima
vs Dutra & Buonomo.

Best of luck,

Marsha Stringer

*The first thing I would do is to check the US Census after they were
married. You can most likely narrow it down to New Bedford, MA or Bristol
County. Try Family Search and be flexible on their name try several
combinations or just last name. Once you find them see if it gives their
ages and the year they immigrated. Next look at the Ellis Island records
(try combinations with names also) to see if they are there for their
arrival. This will tell you about where to search in the Azores Passport
records which will give you the town they are from.*

*I have found many Rego Baldaia in the Ribeira Grande Area.*

It's just getting difficult to find the baptism records because although I
know where my grand parents ended up I can't seem to find how they got to
Capelas. I'm having difficulty finding any records. It's likely that they
were registered in another parish. Yikes it's like looking for a needle in
a haystack.

Most of the Rego's and Baldaia's are related. But you have to go back step
by step to see if it really materializes. You will link up with many
others, but usually not until about the mid 1700's -1800. Unless you have a
more near direct relation.

Good luck.

I didn't post a record because I can't find any of the birth registries.

I found my great grand parent's marriage records on Ancestry as they were
married in the Fall River.
They are....

Carolina Do Rego and Antonio Bento Torres.

Carolina's mother was "Maria do Rego Faulha.... I think it's the other way
around. And should be Maria Faulha do Rego (do rego married name)

Her father was Manuel do rego.

Antonio Bento Torres parent's are listed on ancestry as Jose B and Maria da
Gloria Baldaia.

I can't find the records probably because I'm looking in the wrong parish.
I've been searching in Capelas and Sao Vicente Sao Miguel.

Carolina Birth year Aprox 1877 and Antonio (1873)

What is interesting is that I saw that Eliseu in this forum stated in a
post that both Baldaia and Do Rego are his relatives.

If anyone has any of these in your line please let me know!

Thanks and enjoy the rest of your long weekend!
