I'm sure Mr. Almeida's list is not comprehensive. As titled, he found only
anglicized names in California. None from New England, Canada, nor Hawaii, etc.
Others may have found different anglicizations (sp) in their research.

I can't answer your question. I just wanted to mention that Machado often
became Marshall. In my family, it went Machado to Marshall and back to Machado.
