If you are talking about the bottom right side of the image that looks faded and smudged what you see is blead through from the record on the reverse side of the record. If you look closely at it on the reverse side you will see the record written on that page but also the record which is opposite the record on the previous page. I think they tried to wash the previous page image and gave up then when they wrote the record on the reverse side of the page that bleed through also.
