Hi Moose, I ran kernel compiles for 24 hours with no problems. The machine has also been reconfigured from 512MB of ECC memory to 1GB or non-ecc memory. The symptoms didn't change with the different memory. If backuppc isn't running, the machine will run for weeks at a time. Hung so tight that not even num lock is working.
