Greetings,

I have read through all the posts regarding the
ongoing quest for the best OS X connection method for
BackupPC. However, I have been unable to find the
definitive post that answers the question. The closest
I could find to an answer was in this post:
http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=11643276

However that post is almost a year old, and things may
have changed since then for OS X (10.4.5).

As far as I can tell, this seems to be the consensus:

- xtar on OS X works for preserving resource forks,
but sometimes has issues with giving files the
directory attribute in BackupPC.

- tar on OS X may work(?) or is expected to work in
the near future with BackupPC. Status uncertain... has
this changed?

- hfstar has been reported to work, but I have read
reports of problems
(http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=10490843)

- It does not sound like Rsync works at all? What
about Rsyncd?

Sorry to bring this issue up again. Hopefully there is
someone out there who can expand on this.

Thanks in advance,

Peter
