Bare metal restore is tricky.    There are two things needed to make it 
work 1) a backup of all the files on the box 2) a toolset for putting it 
back.

Both are problematic.   A full backup means getting windows registry 
hives which mean some sort of open file manager or snapshot driver is 
needed - as far as I know there are no open source ofm products.   
Putting the data back means reconstructing the filesystem - support in 
Linux/FreeBSD for NTFS is not good and as far as I'm aware BackupPC does 
not capture all of the extended access control file attributes.
