to be honest, this whole thread is barely readable, partly due to top-posting, partly due to lacking or mis-formatted information. I gather that you might be using rsync(d?) to backup a Windoze host. Your slow backups of localhost are probably not of this Windoze host. Your non-pool disks raw linear read throughput was reasonably high. That is about all I recall. The best approach for evaluating whether your backup is slow or not is probably to tell us something about your hardware and BackupPC setup. You might also search the archives for other threads on this topic. To answer your original question: > Is it normal, that it takes about 80 minutes for a backup? yes, if the amount of data is large enough, the network bandwidth small enough, or the hosts involved slow enough, then 80 minutes would be a reasonable figure.
