This would clearly be a per-client feature. If the directories
to exclude don't exist then you won't see them in the GUI.

There could still be a way to specify wildcards for files to ignore.
This would be no big deal.

One reason why I think my idea has promise is because this is how
all the commercial backup products I've ever used work. Adding
this feature to BackupPC would just bring it closer to
the commercial backup products.
