So, I recently set backuppc up on one of my backup hosts to give it a
try... I'm backing up win32-servers using the smbclient method. My
environment is Debian 4.0 plus the debianized backuppc 3.1.0-1.
Anyway, I set a period of 7 days, and the oldest full backup is now 12
days... I noticed that the disk usage kept increasing, so I went to
look in the logs. Does someone have an idea what backuppc is up to
when it logs messages like the following:
2008-01-11 03:30:13 Pool nightly clean removed 18 files of size 0.00GB
O..zero bytes.. in eighteen files? OK... But I'm not backing up any 0
byte files that I'm aware of. I'm only mirror a handful of MS-SQL
backup files, each of which are around 50 Gb or so. Plus, the oldest
Full backup (the one with age 12) is still browsable through the CGI,
although AFAIU the those old files, which were deleted on the client
(-11 days ago) should have gone away by now ...
Ideas, anyone? What do I do next to find out if, or not, it IS
actually cleaning out any files?
