Check your file system and OS settings.  Ext3 should be good, but if CentOS
is 
configured for small systems it could be tweaked so that there is a limit
like 32k hard
links maximum, or a file size maximum.  Again I have not found Ext2 or 3 to
have this issue.

I did run into this (or at least similar) issue on AIX some years ago.

Hello,

I'm running BackupPC 3.0.0 on CentOS 4, with ext3 file systems. When trying
to backup one of our servers, BackupPC logs the below error:

Too many links at /backuppc/bin/BackupPC_tarExtract line 320

After a while, the backup process gets aborted.

Any ideas on what might be causing the error, and how to fix the problem?
