Yes. What's even worse than this is sometimes they will generate a new config file during an upgrade (e.g., if the config file changed name), and then the next time it says you made "local changes" (which of course is a lie...); that completely throws people off. But aside from that, in generally I find it helpful to track my local changes with RCS; I also check in the default ones on a side branch. -- cheers, -ambrose Yahoo and Gmail must die.
