I'm running BackupPC on a Centos 5.2 server (64 bit). It backs up linux with rsync and Win2K3 servers using smb, and has been running well for some months now.
Last week I did a yum update, and pickup up updates to samba: Jun 26 15:25:06 Updated: samba-common.x86_64 3.0.28-0.el5.8 Jun 26 15:26:58 Updated: samba-common.i386 3.0.28-0.el5.8 Jun 26 15:28:19 Updated: samba.x86_64 3.0.28-0.el5.8 Jun 26 15:28:56 Updated: samba-client.x86_64 3.0.28-0.el5.8 Since then I begin to see the following errors in the backuppc logs: Contents of file /var/backup/pc/adc2/XferLOG.bad.z, modified 2008-06-30 23:23:14 (Extracting only Errors) Running: /usr/bin/smbclient \\\\adc2\\Cellcom -U adir -E -N -d 1 -c tarmode\ full -TcrX - ~\*.\* \*.mpeg \*.mpg \*.avi \*.mp3 \*.wmv full backup started for share Cellcom Xfer PIDs are now 11978,11977 tar_re_search set [ skipped 5 lines ] client_check_incoming_message: received message with mid 11 with no matching send record. Notice the mangled directory names. The linux backups are running OK, but on the windows servers, any directory with new files seems to be getting mangled. When I try to browse the backups in the web gui I get (in the LOG file): 2008-07-01 12:08:32 User admin (host=zin) got CGI error: Can't browse bad directory name /s To show what I mean by "mangled" I've put screen shots here: http://arava.co.il/~micha/backuppc_bad.gif http://arava.co.il/~micha/backuppc_correct.gif The older backups look OK: I can browse, view the files directly from the web interface, and run a restore. Any ideas how to straighten this out? This looks like a samba issue with hebrew directory names, but maybe someone here can enlighten me as to the error: SMB Signature verification failed on incoming packet!
