Correct, because this is not a supported method of changing the location for backups. You should revert (undo) the changes you made so that the pool is configured for the default /var/lib/backuppc and then mount your raid 6 array at /var/lib/backuppc. This will solve the problems you are having, and from your next backup, pooling will start to be used.
