What do you mean by "ignoring"?
It's true that zero bye files are not put in the pool/cpool, but they
are (or at least should be) backed up in the pc tree and have only one
link (the file itself).

Is there anything special/different about those zero-byte files? 
(e.g., permissions, ownership, special file types)

What transfer method are you using?
