Nope. Just proves you don't know how rsync_bpc works...
True. :) It was described as a "drop-in replacement" for rsync on the web somewhere, so that is why I thought that would work.

I would try running from the command line:
 BackupPC_dump -vvv -f <client>
And see where it fails...
I wasn't sure if that would break anything, but I did finally find the complete command line args once I turned on verbose logging, and then saw the problem.

I use rbash for my limited backup user on the clients, so the seemingly innocuous change for RsyncClientPath from "rsync" to /usr/bin/rsync" was the problem.

And everything is happy again.  Thanks.
