What happens with the disk usage on the host backing up the other? Due
to some sort of deduplication I expect not too much increase on disk
consumption.

No.

If you're using compression (why would you not be using compression?)

You are right. I did not take compression into account because I have it disabled on BackupPC level. The underlying filesystem (BTRFS) is taking care of it and doing compression.

And of course you are right, it does not really make sense. As I wrote it was just out of curiosity.

So with compression disabled it should not really do major differences in disk usage, right? Of course they differ slightly as you mentioned. Regarding logfiles and so on. But majority should ahve no effect on disk usage due to deduplication of chunks, right?
