Indeed. I think the most urgent need for a "maintainer" now would be to validate and merge in existing patches as well as to potentially update the source relying on rsync (even though technically not necessary as pointed out by G.W. Haywood).
[It's pretty easy to do as I have in the past pulled in new versions for my own private builds though one would of course need to test it again for each version to make sure nothing breaks] Beyond that I don't think much regular maintenance activity is required as the program is otherwise rock-solid. Having an ongoing maintainer would also at least serve as a point of reference and approval for any future patches -- whether they be updates, bug fixes, or code extensions. Mr. Haywood -- it is certainly very generous of you to step up and agree to maintain a "fork". Has anyone heard from Craig over the past couple of years because if he is around, it would be good to get his blessing. Even better if in lieu of Craig maintaining active ownership, he would invite G.W. Haywood plus minus/others to serve as co-maintainers of the existing branch rather than "forcing" a fork.
