My bad, and thanks for the fast reply: Bacula 1.38.11 on FreeBSD 6, and we're using as a library an HP MSL 2024 with a HP LTO3 Drive. > > Have restores been run against these volumes? Hmm, yes. When i posted that i got this reply from Kern: > > (*)BSF at EOM = yes > > (*)Backward Space Record = no > > (*)Fast Forward Space File = no > > (*)TWO EOF = yes >If you turn on the asterisked items, you cripple Bacula and guarantee >poor >1970 tape drive type performance from what is otherwise a modern, fast >drive. So i'm guessing i need to enable some of those "compatibility" modes with my drive. Problem is i don't really know how each of those affect the drive...last time i had all those enabled, all worked fine except for a mean time of 3 hours each "moving to the end of data"! I can try one of those options at a time with btape, any wild guess or preferred order is welcomed. I would discard "Two EOF" since i think thats for the end of tape and i have "seteotmode=1" If someone can see anything in the tapeinfo also: Tapeinfo, (got variable block size ok, etc..)
