well, upon further investigation, it looks like bacula-sd runs as root
anyway.

[root@d0lphb040 ~]# ps maux|grep bacula-sd
root     10838  0.0  0.0 242220  1992 ?        -    10:04   0:00 bacula-sd
-c /etc/bacula/bacula-sd.conf
