Hello Kevin, I can save you a lot of time and tell you affirmatively that the lin_tape driver simply is not supported with Bacula.I have done quite a bit of testing (for certifications of Bacula Enterprise) in Quantum's lab with and without the lin_tape driver on LTO8, 9, and 10 drives.
What works: - Writing backup data to a tape - Reaching the EOT, recognizing EOT and re-reading last block written- Loading a tape moving to a specific filemarker and reading data for a restore.
What does not work: - Loading an appendable tape and moving to EODThis issue has not been resolved, and from what I understand from our developers, it does not appear to be in the plans for Bacula Enterprise.
Maybe someone in the Community can propose a solution? :) Hope this helps, Bill -- Bill Arlofski [email protected]
