I have done quite a bit of testing (for certifications of Bacula Enterprise) in
Quantum's lab with and without the lin_tape driver on LTO8, 9, and 10 drives.
What works:
- Writing backup data to a tape
- Reaching the EOT, recognizing EOT and re-reading last block written
- Loading a tape moving to a specific filemarker and reading data for a restore.
What does not work:
- Loading an appendable tape and moving to EOD
This issue has not been resolved, and from what I understand from our
developers, it does not appear to be in the plans for Bacula Enterprise.
To be precise, everything works with the standard Linux ST driver, someone
reading the thread should not think that LTO8,9,10 IBM are not working
on Linux or with Bacula.
Maybe someone in the Community can propose a solution? :)
Use the standard linux driver.
