The Baha'i Studies Listserv Don, this is just an anecdote but I was in India about 2 years ago and was eager to visit the Baha'i House of Worship because I had geared such great things about our growth in India, including from our own Dr. Maneck who I believe did work there quite a while ago.
I was thrilled by the beauty of the majestic building but I was sad to see it sort of deserted. It was kind of more like a museum than an active place of worship. The signs and notices posted on the walls were all very very out of date and there were few actual Baha's around. The local people were very proud of the building and eager to show it off, but none of them had ever met an actual Baha'i.
