My take is that Behm shot their wad of cash drilling the one Edwards well (not sure which of many) that turned out to be a dry hole, and they were not about to throw good money after bad. Not every driller walks away with a big wad of cash.
Hess seems to have just unending confidence it seems even tho most of their Mountrail wells appear to fail to recover their costs over several years..I have never fully understood their corporate mindset in this regard. Hess is obviously a much bigger company with an Eastern US retailing component too..and can afford to take more risks, but I dont see the corporate progress being made of some of the others with respect to both where to drill and how to drill. Many of the other companies appear to be getting smarter and smarter as successive wells improve over the previous efforts , but Hess seems to just keep repeating themselves with persistently marginal results much of the time--I don't see any clear evidence of improving results over time. Go figure! I value their long term committment to ND but after that is where I am lost.If anyone else has a different, more positive take of Hess's efforts and incremental progress I'm all ears.
