Firstly - I have no objection to KU as a venue, especially if they will allow us to actually hold a proper camp which I believe really makes BarCamp 'BarCAMP'. I was just concerned that a decision had been made about location & date without a discussion and consultation on the mailling list. I'm glad it was only a misunderstanding. (btw - camp doesn't necessarily mean fire! that's not a requirement)
Secondly - We do need to figure out the best dates for the event. Any particular reason why those dates were offerred. I personally think Feb/Mar is better time frame as I think we should spread it out a bit to make them more unique. I think we should encourage smaller, more hands-on events inbetween. Finally - I think the idea of Barcamp is to attract those who really live for this stuff. So the question of accessability is really not an issue to me so long as we intend to stay overnight. What's the big deal of it taking an hour or so to get somewhere if you're gonna stay for 36 hrs without leaving? You'll note that the level of participation on Day 2 of BarcampBKK 2 was a great deal higher as a percentage than Day 1. That's because the people who come for the full event are a lot more committed. This should be encouraged. -- Ben On Sun, Oct 19, 2008 at 9:51 PM, Julie Lavoie <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>wrote: > It sounds great to be able to camp overnight, but I think travelling far in > Bangkok, especially without MRT/BTS is always a downside because of the > traffic.
