If you do this, you MUST call the "update volume" -> "All Volumes from Pool" , otherwise the volume will be moved to the new pool but keep its retention times. The right way to achieve what you want is to set the volume to the status "Archive", this can be done with the "update volumes" command. This is sufficient that the volume will not be overwritten automatically. This is what bruno also already said as I just see :) To make it easier to understand later and create some more security against accidential overwriting, I would also create an pool called "archive" which has * "Recycle" set to no, * "Autoprune" set to no, * "Volume Retention" to 99 year and move the volume in question into that pool. Afterwards then do "update volume" -> "All volumes from pool" and select the Archive pool. All this only prevents the deletion of the metadata of the backups stored on that specific volume from the database. If you have a tape you can also set the write-lock. > I see. But what about the backups of other clients that have gone to the same > volume ? Can this be seperated ? No, you can only prevent a certain volume of being overwritten. What you can do if you want to archive certain jobs that have been already stored, you can use copy jobs to copy the wanted jobs into the archive pool. > If not I will define another JobDefs section , disable the automated backup > job for this client and edit the client job to use the Archive-JobDef. > A manual run should then solve this problem. > >> Once done for more security, update the volume status and make it archive. >> bareos will never touch it (except for restores). > > That sounds like a good idea. > > Thanks for the quick response and the helpfull information. > > Best regards > > Marcus > -- Mit freundlichen Grüßen Philipp Storz [email protected] Bareos GmbH & Co.
