When you download an attachment or preview a message, the frontend talks AMQP
to a broker (rabbitmq) which
instructs a worker (on the machine where the message is stored) to perform the
action, the frontend the polls a
results store to see if the action has been completed.[1]

MySQL is used as the store for the results of the action.

The issue you describe seems to me to be this[2][3]
