[Baruwa] Understanding Adding scanning Nodes

I'm looking over the Administration Guide on managing scanning Nodes. 
Does each node host its own database, or are the records kept on the 
main scanner. If kept on main scanner, will I need to edit all instances 
of database connection settings to use the private IP of the main 
scanner, or does Baruwa handle all of this without config modifications?
