Making some progress that I thought I would share. Not saying what I have done is correct, in fact, I believe I still do not have everything configured properly.

1. Configured main scanner as database and memcached server (both are configured to accept remote connections) 2. Changed database connection in MailScanner.conf (Scanner B) to point to Scanner A 3. Changed all references of 127.0.0.1 in production.ini (Scanner B), except for MTA info to IP of Scanner A
4. Added node B to Scanner A. Used FQDN
5. Added IP of node B to the hosts file, but don't think that is needed.

With these changes I am getting mixed, but promising results.

Scanner node relay-3.domain.com (B) always shows message count, but other stats about hardware, MTA, antivirus come and go. For a few minutes everything is green with stats for for all items. A few minutes later I lose all stats, except for message counts.

Another caveat is I can no longer release trapped messages

Work in progress......

I'm looking over the Administration Guide on managing scanning Nodes. Does each node host its own database, or are the records kept on the main scanner. If kept on main scanner, will I need to edit all instances of database connection settings to use the private IP of the main scanner, or does Baruwa handle all of this without config modifications?
