Yes, my node is green on the status page – I see all the CPU, memory, HD,
processes, etc, and all is green.

Yes, I picked the local FQDN for the node and the node was added without
problems.

Is your node online and green ? Did you pick the local fqdn node ?

OK, here is what I did:

1. I added a new node and opened the MS settings for the node

2. The SQL statement “select * from configurations where server_id = 3;”
returned nothing (3 is the ID of the new node)

3. I went to the web app and hit save -> it gave me the message “No
configuration changes made” and it did not store any setting in the DB

4. I checked the value for “Notify Senders” (in the “Notice Settings” tab)
– in the .conf file it is “no” while in the web app it is “Yes”

5. I changed another setting (“Send Notices”) on the “Notice Settings” tab
and hit Save

6. The only settings that got stored to the DB were the “Send Notices” and
the “Notice Signature”

7. The “Notify Senders” was not saved to the DB and is still shown as
“Yes” on the webapp while being “no” in the .conf file

So how can I be sure which of my settings will we used by MailScanner? It seems
like a mess to me

Best regards,

Dragomir Denev

Well, I did read the instructions, but they are somehow vague on the topic of
nodes.

Then you did not read all of the instructions when setting it up. You are
supposed to add a node. You will need to use the node you setup, with its full
FQDN hostname.

Thank you, Jeremy, for the answer

Actually I did not add a scanning node, I am editing the MailScanner settings
for the default node. I have both Baruwa and MailScanner running on the same
machine. Do I have to add ‘localhost’ as a node?

Regarding your question – yes, a setting is not persisted to the DB until I
change its value and the save via the web app. If I just hit save, then the
values are not persisted to the DB.
