Hi Stuart,

I'm running 10.10.3 (14D136) as well and can not reproduce the problem.
Pressing CMD+Q shuts down BaseX.app as well as choosing BaseX -> Quit BaseXGUI
from the menu.

With 'stubbornly refuses to quit; it only closes the active windows' you mean
the main window has closed after pressing CMD+Q, but you still see the process
BaseXGUI listed in, for example, Activity Monitor? Is the BaseX icon still
present in the Dock and Application Switcher (CMD+TAB) as well?

Thanks
        Alex
