Because Worldcon 76 in San Jose (August 16 – 20, 2018) has chosen to honor
BobWilkins as gHost of Honor, Christopher J. Garcia and I are co-editing a
specialissue of Journey Planet dedicated to Bob and Creature Features. We’re
looking for nonfiction, fiction,artwork, photography, or anything we can put on
to the pages of a fanzine involvingthe following:
(1) Bob Wilkins! Oh, yes, let’s celebrate Bob!
(2) Anything related to Creature Features the show.For example, John Stanley
who took over as host after Bob resigned, guestinterviews, special features,
short films, serials, all of it. Explore and expound!
(3) Science-fiction or horror movies in general, buthow do these represent the
period when Creature Features aired in the Bay Area (mostof the 1970s until
1984) either as what was played during the show’s lifespan orthat stand as a
legacy? For example, I’mresearching a piece about the Devil as represented in
film, literature, andcomics from the late 1960s through perhaps 2000. Some
played on Creature Features, and othersdid not, but the theme relates to the
period in question or drew inspirationfrom that time. I think you understand.
The deadline for submissions is October 1, 2017. We’llrelease the final product
into the wild by the end of calendar year 2017, but I’mgoing to strive for
before Halloween.
