Lisa: Famous Monsters was cancelled because of the Sonoma fires. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban with the Symphony Silicon Valley is this weekend. (symphonysiliconvalley.org <http://symphonysiliconvalley.org/>) Reviews Ric: Last weekend went to Phoenix for DocCon Arizona - a Doc Savage convention. Took part in a radio adaptation of a Doc Savage story. Had a great time. This afternoon, watched 2.5 hour review of the Walking Dead (1-7). Really entertaining. Available on AMC on demand. Also watched 1.5 hours of Inside Story on Bio.com. The making of Ferris Bueller. Adrienne: Alum Rock ghost-walk. Relatively new (second year?) program from the park. Mo: Had a red tail hawk flew past her, and deer came out. It stinks from the minerals in the water. Private ghost-walk of Union Square. Good tour to take. Only available in October. Mo enjoyed it. Great to se SF late at night. These are fun. DaveC: Fisherman’s Wharf Rainforest Cafe (deceased). Dropped his favorite drink (the Green Python), but they would do other mixed drinks (but wouldn’t do his!) Discovered that the SF one has lost it’s way when he ate at the Anaheim one recently. Bradford: Movie “The Professor and the Wonder Women” Good production values, but flunks the lasso of truth test. View as a fictionalized account of the origins of Wonder Woman. Walking Dead S8 premiere. Reminded him of the open of S6. Hopes it fares better than S6. Lisa: CampbellCon. Lot of fun. Actually had programming, and a gaming room. Small dealers room, but they looked happy. Will go again. Gerald: Sold about a dozen books, better last year. Not as much traffic in the dealers room (maybe because of programming). Go early for parking. Neil: Blade Runner: 2049. Faithful, with same appeal (for better or worse). JohnO: Really enjoyed it. Slow, but shows off the detail. Deep fan of original. Yochanon: A thinking movie. IMAX sound was too loud. The Foreigner (with Jackie Chan) If you liked Taken, you’ll like this. Not a comedy. Jackie Chan slowed down is not that slow... Yochanon: Mount Umunum. Highly recommend. Former radar installation is now an open space area. The Gifted (an X-men series) Lot of heart. Solid B Inhumans - not as good. C- Dianne: AfroComicon. First year event in Oakland. Had scriptwriters, actors, make-up artists, &c... Lot of topics. Next event in February in SF. Worth full price (and the drive). JC: Buzr “Game Changers” documentary with Alex Trebec interviewing other hosts. How the shows came to be, and how the hosts came to do them. Gerald: He and Gayle were in the test audience for the rebooted Jeopardy. There was an auction. Meeting adjourned at: 21:43 and the rumor of the week was: Jacqueline Suzanne made our party jar the valley of the dollars.
