Long wait for BBDB to format buffer

Hi,

I am experiencing problems with BBDB taking --forever-- to format the
*BBDB* buffer when I do M-x bbdb RET RET.

I've let it run for minutes and it still sits there with the
formatting..... message in the minibuffer.

I have also seen this bahavior when I do a C-c C-l in the GNUS
Newsgroup buffer to look at the killed newsgroups list.  I let that
run for 10 minutes once and finally had it come back with the full
list of killed groups.

I am running BBDB-1.50, MHE 4.0, and FSF Emacs 19.22.
