Well, there's *something* going on here besides base processor speed
and BBDB size: my Indy/SC does my 518-entry BBDB in well under one
second, but an Indy/SC isn't anything like 20 times the speed of an
M/3000.  My guess would be paging (my Indy's fat, I don't like
paging;-), but it might be something Emacs-specific (I can't think of
many candidates, though ... total amount of elisp loaded, maybe?).
