Surprisingly, executing the command does not generate a *Backtrace*
buffer, so maybe the command is not generating an error.  I have

(setq visible-bell t)

and when I execute "\C-c\C-g" I get the flash which is usually caused
by an error.  In any case, the binding does not work as expected
*until* I bury the bbdb buffer as described above.  Is this related to
the '->' symbol which appears on the left side of my minibuffer after
executing 'M-x bbdb' until I bury the *BBDB* buffer?  I confess I have
never understood what that is about.  

Does anyone have any further suggestions for me?  Can anyone replicate
the problem?
