At the bottom of the "Editor Defaults" preference pane, you can set the default tab size by clicking on the "Set..." button. It will bring up the font chooser with a field for tab width.

I installed 8.5.1 on my new work machine, MacBook Pro, OS X 10.4.8. When I start a new document, the tab size is set to 4. I have auto-expandtabs on and tabs are inserted as 4 spaces. I want it to be 2. After I set the tab size for a document by using Detab with a setting 2 it seems to stick for that document. After I set the Detab to 2 when I use Shift Left or Shift Right, it uses 4 spaces as the increment size. How do I set default tab size for all documents to be something other than 4? How do I get all the various Shift/Tab settings to be 2 by default? I searched on tab and shift in the preference search and didn't find anything that seemed to be what I want. -- David Eves -- ------------------------------------------------------------------ Have a feature request?
