As of version 10, BBEdit has begun changing my find-and-replaces under

BBEdit has done for more than a decade.

Here's what happens:

I have two documents, A and B. I want to search for a string in A and
replace it with a string from B.

This is a bit cumbersome your search method. Go to B and highlight the replace string. Hit CMD + ALT + e then go to A and highlight the string to replace and hit CMD + e. Then you may hit CMD + ALT + = to replace the string without opening the search window at all :-)
