If you have ssh access to their server, you can do what I do. I 
set up a pair of ssh tunnels, one for IMAP and one for SMTP, and 
then point my mail reader at localhost. One advantage is when I'm 
on the road, I don't have to open up relaying for each wi-fi network 
that I connect through.
