To combat chronic wasting disease, the DNR will issue permits to landowners in parts of Dane and Iowa counties.

In a drastic move to crack down on the spread of chronic wasting disease, the state is opening an unlimited deer hunting season next month.
The Department of Natural Resources will begin issuing permits to landowners the week of May 6 to allow killing of unlimited numbers of deer in a 415-square-mile area of Dane and Iowa counties, DNR Secretary Darrell Bazzell said Friday.
"If we want to have healthy deer and deer hunting in the future, we're going to have to do some hard things now‹open our lands and start the very sad task of drastically reducing deer numbers in the chronic wasting disease zone," Bazzell said.
Bazzell asked people to voluntarily stop feeding deer. The Dane County Board however, is expected to go further and enact a feeding ban. Y he county resolution will be introduced Thursday and should be approved by the end of the month‹ much faster than if the feeding ban went through the state Legislature.
The practice of putting food out for deer, a hobby for some people, causes deer to congregate. Many experts Believe that animal-to animal contact spreads chronic wasting disease, deadly brain disease.

The problem lies with the fact that they are feeding deer / elk ( both farmed
and some wild ) a manganese oxide enriched mineral supplement for the growth
of good sized antlers, etc. It is as simple as that !!
Yes, I have uncovered the very same information. The hotspot area here in my 'back yard' has been heavily fortified with mineral block etc by a group of land owner who with the best personal intention followed their passion with a group called "Quality Deer Management". They are un- willing at the moment to move into the understandings we have, but they are also being made scape goats with wild rumors that they brought in a trophy buck from the western states to increase the genetic potential. I know them well. I believe their statements that they did not.
While this has no relevance it does contribute to their worry of responsibility & denial. Bless them.

eating large quantities of pine needles in the Colorado CWD cluster area -
due to overpopulation - when I did my field study back in 1996/7. I recorded
2000 ppm of manganese in these needles.
Because the CWD areas are low in copper,
This may not be the case here. We are very low in selenium and high in back ground radiation and many heavy metals. This area is an ancient mountain area that has seen lead mining in the early years of white settlement i.e. 1840-60's.

taken up by the vacant copper bonding site on the prion protein, (there maybe a mineral overload of manganese [and cadmium. see below and this months Acres USA ] that predisposes or overwhelms the sugar to utilize it.) and this
causes the formation (folding) of the abnormal shaped prion protein, which then ceases to function and screws up the ability of the circadian pathways in the brain
to deal with the daily challenge by ultra violet light.
There is a UV component but I'm partial to the model that the vascular sponge is created by protease from the cellular waste handling organials (sp?) as they explode do to over work and over capacity from prion build-up..
This disease does NOT spread by animal contact. This is a nonsense scientific
myth. You must tell the meeting that history hasd show many scrapie and CWD
eradication attempts both in Iceland and Colorado where they slaughtered out
sheep and/or deer across huge tracts of TSE endemic land, then reintroduced
fresh livestock 4 years later, only to go down with TSE three-four years
after that. It is the impact of the environment which causes the disease, not
an infectious disease. The abnormal shaped prion forms in the susceptible
brain of the living animal which is challenged by the high manganese / low
copper . high oxidant environmental factors.
