----------------------------------------------------------- New Message on BDOTNET
----------------------------------------------------------- From: Vinu Message 1 in Discussion Hi all, Refer my earlier posting - Message ID = 3996. Is it true that I cannot share a gac DLL from another machine. To put some premise into this discussion let me re-quote material regarding codebase mentioned in the bookVisual basic .NET and the .Net platform by Andrew Troelsen Specifying <Code base> elements The final aspect of application configuration files that you examine at this point isthe use of codebases. *.config files can support another xml tag named <codebases>, which is used by the assembly resolver to locate dependant assemblies that are located at arbitrary locations (including other machines)....... Please clarify to me that other than using MTS/ .Net Remoting, I won't be able to share a remote gac dll within a network. Secondly if i decide I don't want to use .Net remoting or MTS which is the best way to share DLL's. If otherwise I will have to redistribute the dll across machines if any change is made. I would really appreciate if any one could throw some light into this. Many Thanks, Regards, Vinod ----------------------------------------------------------- To stop getting this e-mail, or change how often it arrives, go to your E-mail Settings. http://groups.msn.com/bdotnet/_emailsettings.msnw Need help?
