I had the same issue.....finally this worked for me

sudo mv /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf.backup
sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg-video-fbdev
sudo reboot

search ....   "Debian X11/LDE display problem ?"
