You'd use GPIO programming and set the pin as an input. Pressing it can start whatever part of your program you want. It seems as if you need to look a bit more deeply into basic microprocessor functions if you're asking this kind of question. The program to record could be initiated by almost anything, a remote command, a pushbutton, or even a sound.
