Hi Thomas,
Apologies for the awfully late reply! We would be very happy to receive your
contributions. Squeak always needs more help. :-)
By chance, we wrote a blog article quite recently that should cover exactly
your questions:
https://news.squeak.org/2024/09/06/code-contributions-to-squeak/ If you are
using a recent Squeak Trunk image (https://squeak.org/downloads/), which is
generally recommended but not strictly necessary, you can also find detailed
advice on how to contribute in the world main docking bar > Help > Contributing
to Squeak. That being said, these help resources have not been tested a lot, so
if you have any questions or feedback, please always write to us!
Most communication on active Squeak development is happening on the squeak-dev
list
(https://lists.squeakfoundation.org/mailman3/lists/squeak-dev.lists.squeakfoundation.org),
which is likely also why your question here unfortunately got unnoticed for so
long. However, if that's too much noise for you, you can also keep posting here
on the beginners list or create issues in our bug tracker
(http://bugs.squeak.org/), which will be automatically synced with squeak-dev.
All packages that are installed by default in Squeak are built-in so called
"trunk" packages maintained by the community on squeak-dev. If you are using
some third-party packages that you have installed from SqueakSource, SqueakMap,
or Metacello, the perfect process might be a little bit different - just let me
know what you want to do.
Happy Squeaking!
Best,
Christoph
