I'm trying to install mod_perl (and, ultimately, embperl) following instructions at http://take23.org/intro/index.xml/3. I've upgraded my perl dist to v5.6.1 fo i686-linux. Apache's (1.3.20) already running, tweaked for php, which in turn is tweaked for mysql; all built from source. I get as far as: % perl Makefile.PL \ USE_APXS=1 \ WITH_APXS=/usr/sbin/apxs \ EVERYTHING=1 which gets me the message: "Reading Makefil.PL args from @ARGV Unable to determine server version, aborting. Please specify MP_APXS or MP_AP_PREFIX" I've tried searching the web and usenet via google using the string "Please specify MP_APXS." The search results were all cvs talk for mod_perl 2.0 and completely over my head. Perhaps one of you fine folk can spare a second to scratch their head on my behalf or point me to an appropriate resource? So far I've had no answer from the folks at axkit.com, who, in turn, host or sponsor take23.
