Oh, that's probably where it's from then.  I suspect the Anarres MUD
has quite a few modules, but the Anarres::Mud::Driver was the only one
released on CPAN.

It does.  Given that you mention it can be used to implement an echo server
I take it can also be used to implement code for other services.
