Yes, BASIC is the only programming I have ever done. All I can really remember was PRINT, GOTO, and a variety of line numbers. I'm trying to write a text adventure
You might "steal" some code from the module Games::Rezrov <http://search.cpan.org/dist/Games-Rezrov/>. I've never looked at it, but it is a perl version of the famous z-code machine. Some will fondly remember great Infocom games like the Zork series. You might also want to check out <http://www.ifarchive.org/>
